The musicology program at Lamont offers students specializing in either musicology or ethnomusicology the opportunity to explore historical, social and analytical perspectives on global music. Students take courses on a broad range of topics and, with the support of faculty mentorship, write a thesis that contributes to the field on a topic of Sarah Morelli is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Musicology and Ethnomusicology at the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music (Ph.D. Harvard, 2007). Active as a scholar and performer, her work draws on training with Hindustani music maestro Ali Akbar Khan (voice and sarod), with kathak dance master Pandit Chitresh Sarah also continues her music practice, and studied with Ali Akbar Khansahib's disciples Pandit Rajeev Taranath, Dr. George Ruckert and Steve Oda.
