"The Phoenix," a sculpture by MSU alum Richard Tanner, features a stainless steel gazing sphere that gazes over the athletic fields at IM East. Completed in 2022, the sculpture resembles a phoenix rising from the ashes, symbolizing a beacon of hope and rising through the ashes — not only in athletics, but also in response to the artist's personal struggles throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Exclusive to Nikon cameras, the NEF is Nikon's RAW file format. RAW image files, sometimes referred to as digital negatives, contain all the image information captured by the camera's sensor, along with the image's metadata (the camera's identification and its settings, the lens used and other information).
