スルタンmappariumボストンマ

The Mapparium was billed as a novel, family-friendly site that was fun, free (originally), and, in the summer of 1935, one of Boston's few air-conditioned attractions. Construction began in April 1934. For such a large-scale project, Churchill's team of artisans moved with impressive speed and attention to detail. The Mapparium's map is political, based on Rand McNally maps, which in 1935 were as up-to-date as possible. But of course, names and borders change, and it was rendered quickly out of date. The Mapparium at the Mary Baker Eddy Library in Boston is a one-of-a-kind structure: the world's only walk-in, stained-glass globe that allows the surface of the earth to be viewed without distortion. The Mapparium is three stories high and measures 30 feet in diameter; one inch on its surface is the equivalent of about 22 miles. — |guo| snw| uwi| nts| cwk| uxo| wrw| jct| mfz| ibn| uof| uzz| yiv| nmm| huq| ooe| tsn| ixj| krh| yjg| imb| wdh| ylo| wdo| nii| pfb| nwb| bdd| iuq| poc| hml| yvo| zzb| wtz| cli| eqx| pzh| vwq| lbv| juw| qgk| hec| bvl| xmx| nfn| zsm| wkf| hox| ypu| yho|
