Poggioreale is one of Italy's most famous ghost towns. It is located in western Sicily, in the Belice Valley. Sicilians call this place their modern Pompeii. On the night between the 14th and 15th of January 1968, ancient Poggioreale was hit by a natural disaster: the Belice earthquake. Four places were destroyed, and ten suffered severe damage 333.
