Description. This trail begins right across from the entrance to Chatfield Hollow State Park. It then continues through Forster Pond State Park and through Deer Lake Scout Reservation. All the while it goes up and down various hills and rock piles. Some of these are steep and some of these are technical, however, none of these are incredibly The Chatfield Reservoir sits in the middle of the State Park and is the park's main attraction, and rightfully so. Excellent for recreating, the reservoir also serves a purpose. The Chatfield Reservoir and Dam were built by the United States Army Corps of Engineers as a response to the area's detrimental flooding in 1965. For a bit faster pace, the 16-mile Chatfield ATV Trail sits east of town and is open to the public May through October. Following the rise and fall of the bluffs and valleys, and winding through woodlots, pastures, and along streams, the trail is geared for all ages and experience levels.
