High School Program. The High School Program at NYSSD is designed for deaf students working toward a New York State Regents diploma and planning to continue in post secondary education. The curriculums used by instructors in this program are aligned with the New York State Curriculums and New York State Standards. The New York State School for the Deaf (NYSSD) is a state-operated school with oversight by the New York State Education Department. NYSSD, in partnership with family and community, provides a rigorous, diverse, individualized, bilingual (ASL and English) education in a barrier-free communication rich environment. The NYSSD Interscholastic Sports Program is made up of girls' and boys' soccer, basketball, and track teams, a co-ed softball team, and a varsity cheerleading squad.
