The sinking of the Binley shafts began in 1904 by a company known as Merry and Cuninghame on land leased from the Earl of Craven. Sinking was completed in 1908 and the colliery manager, William McKee, was appointed. Due to its relatively short production shaft (919ft), the colliery had faster winding time, which made it the most efficient and West Midlands Ambulance Service was called at 10.57pm to a collision involving a car and a tree on Brinklow Road, Binley in Coventry. Five ambulances, three paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma Costing an estimated £8.6m, the Binley cycleway aims to cover 6km (3.7 miles) to link Coventry city centre with University Hospital Coventry.
