John Fox-Strangways (father) Henry Edward Fox-Strangways, 5th Earl of Ilchester PC (13 February 1847 - 6 December 1905), known as Henry Fox-Strangways until 1865, was a British peer and Liberal politician. He served as Captain of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen-at-Arms under William Ewart Gladstone between January and February 1874. CE Fox-Strangways Charles Edward Fox-Strangways (1844-1910) Geologist and Honorary Member of the YPS. Fox-Strangways was born on 13 February 1844 at Rewe, near Exeter, where his father the Rev. H. Fox-Strangways (a grandson of the first Earl of Ilchester) was the Rector. He went to school at Eton and thence to the University of Göttingen where Cecil Sharp by A.H.Fox Strangeways, In collaboration with Maud Karpeles, Oxford University Press, London 1933. Cecil Sharp was born on St Cecilia's Day, November 22nd 1859. He died on Midsummer's Eve, June 23rd, 1924.
