The Buttermere Horseshoe. 5th May 2021. Picking up where I left off after six months away was never going to be an easy task. After completing the Eskdale Horseshoe last October the country went into lock-down and exercise had to be done locally from home, fitness was bound to suffer. Although it didn't feel it at the time gaining a maximum of Entries for the 2022 Buttermere Horseshoe (Daz Holloway Memorial Race) are open, we are running both the original and the short route. The Darren Holloway Memorial Race is one of the toughest Lakeland races in the calendar and makes a fantastic day out over the quiet Buttermere fells. 2014 was the second running since its re-launch & re-badging as the Darren Holloway Memorial Race after Darren's sad passing during the Ian Hodgson Relay of 2012. The race had disappeared off the calendar in 1992. The former male record being 3.30.13 in 1990 by D. Lee and the female record 4.08.10 also in 1990 by H.
