Redefining the Barcelona skyline. Designed by famous French architect Jean Nouvel, the Torre Agbar is a 38-storey skyscraper that covers some 50,693 square metres (545,655 square feet) of total surface area. Construction began on the building in 1999, and in 2005, it was inaugurated as the main seat of the Agbar Group, the namesake company by The Torre Agbar, or Agbar Tower, is a 21st-century skyscraper at Placa de les Glories Catalanes, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It was designed by French architect Jean Nouvel in association with the Spanish firm b720 Arquitectos and built by Dragados. It opened in June 2005 and was inaugurated officially by the King of Spain on 16 September 2005 Gherkin-Agbar. Aug 2022. This is an interesting modern skyscraper, much reminding on London's Gherkin. We were very lucky to have a fabulous view of the Torre Agbar from our hotel room at the Novotel Barcelona City. The lights are a tribute to Gaudi and his architectural work.
