Larry and Neil Rossy. Entrepreneur and third-generation retailer Larry Rossy founded Dollarama in 1992, when he transformed one of his father's variety stores in Matane, Que., into the new concept. Since that time, he has built the chain to over 1,000 locations coast to coast. In 2016, Larry's son Neil was appointed president and CEO. Neil Rossy's great grandfather, Salim Rossy, fled the Turkish occupation of Lebanon for Montreal and in 1910 opened his first department store, S. Rossy Inc. His son George took over in 1937 and led the retailer until his death in 1973 when Larry assumed leadership of the 20-store company.
