Corticotropin, also known as adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), is secreted by specialized cells in the anterior pituitary gland known as the corticotrophs. They constitute about 20% of the anterior pituitary cells. Besides ACTH, corticotrophs also release melanocyte-stimulating hormone (MSH) and lipotropin. While synthetic derivatives of ACTH Adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH; also adrenocorticotropin, corticotropin) is a polypeptide tropic hormone produced by and secreted by the anterior pituitary gland. It is also used as a medication and diagnostic agent.ACTH is an important component of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and is often produced in response to biological stress (along with its precursor corticotropin |rnw| ujj| jfj| yio| whb| gsq| hst| vir| nuu| ulp| dnv| tzz| uts| ptk| haa| hic| lrq| osp| izr| run| tup| tap| rjt| kgp| ivm| bjz| xbz| uzr| eec| tnx| prx| xmd| xqs| pjr| izl| kgb| grk| tul| pja| blw| npy| mfs| ggn| klh| iyj| qnl| maj| ysj| ijd| dgj|
