HISD's DeBakey High School opened in 1972 and was the first high school for health professions in the country. This year, the school and its alumni are celebrating its 50th anniversary. The celebrations will feature career presentations from 50 DeBakey High School alumni and several events coordinated by parents and alumni. In partnership DeBakey reports ranks only in the top 10%. Students in the top 10% have a class rank included on their transcript. The GPA is weighted on a 4.0 scale, and is cumulative starting from the 9th grade. All health science courses are out of 4 points (no Pre-AP/honors options). Top 10% of DeBakey graduates rank in the top 8-10% nationally. Michael E.
