Giotto, student of the lesser known Cimabue created the crucifix in much the same style as Cimabue's "Crucifix" (though with an added layer of immense realism) which hangs at the other side of The Crucifixion was a common theme within the workshop of Giotto, with this version being produced in around 1303 to 1305. Here we discuss this important artwork and also compare it with his other interpretations of this iconic Christian image.
