Wildcat Hollow Trail. This Wildcat Hollow trail traverses upland forests, stream bottoms, pine stands, and meadows. White-tailed deer, wild turkeys, forest songbirds and numerous reptiles and amphibians are likely to be seen along its route. Wildflowers are abundant during spring and summer, and autumn colors are vibrant. The Wildcat Hollow Trail is the only dedicated backpacking trail within the Athens District of the Wayne National Forest. The entire loop is 15 miles long, wholly within the Wayne, but there is a cut-through for a shorter 5-mile loop option. To reach the Wildcat Hollow Trailhead from Athens, take OH-13 north 12.6 miles from US-33 to OH-78 Wayne National Forest, Ohio.
