High Bridge Park. Length: 1.3 mi. These are the easy and moderate loops for mountain biking at the Fort George Hills Trails in Highbridge Park. The trails are short, flowing singletrack with some roots or rock obstacles. The trails are two way, so watch for other riders. Highbridge Park derives its name from New York City's oldest standing bridge, the High Bridge (1848), which was built to carry the Old Croton Aqueduct over the Harlem River. The area that is today's Highbridge Park was assembled piecemeal between 1867 and the 1960s, with the bulk being acquired through condemnation from 1895 to 1901. The Description.
