SherAli Tareen is Associate Professor of Religious Studies at Franklin and Marshall College. His research centers on Muslim intellectual discourses and debates on critical questions of law, theology, and politics primarily though not exclusively in the context of early modern and modern South Asia. Faisal Devji is professor of Indian history and fellow of St Antony's College at the University of Oxford, where he is also the director of the Asian Studies Centre. SherAli has been teaching at F&M since 2012. He received his PhD in Religious Studies from Duke University in 2012. His research focuses on Muslim intellectual traditions and debates in early modern and modern South Asia. He has also written extensively on the interaction of Islam and secularism.
