Historical Description. Sapcote, a parish, with a village, in Leicestershire, adjacent to the river Soar, the Fosse Way, and the Leicester and Nuneaton branch of the L. & N.W.R., 2½ miles SE of Elmsthorpe station, 4 E by S of Hinckley, and 10 SW of Leicester. It has a post office under Hinckley; money order and telegraph office. Sapcote is one of three castles in south west Leicestershire, with Earl Shilton and Hinckley, which immediately post date the Norman Conquest. Excavation has shown that the castle contains many stone buildings and the potential for survival of further buried features is high. Sapcote History. The Heritage of Sapcote by Keith B.
