The name and date of the little round temple in the Forum Boarium at Rome (popularly known as the 'Temple of Vesta') are long-standing problems of Roman topography. Its identification is still quite uncertain. On the chronology, however, general opinion seems to have hardened and, for reasons which are discussed below, most scholars appear The Forum Boarium, or "Foro Boario", is a spectacular hidden jewel just off the beaten path of Rome, but well within the heart of the historic centre. The area, which was once used as an Ancient Roman meat and fish market, is home to some of the Eternal City's oldest and most-well preserved structures.
