In 2009, a TV series was produced, following the events of the film, but with several notable differences, which Casper's Scare School is an animated series based on the computer film of the same name starring Casper the Friendly Ghost. The series aired on Cartoon Network from October 5, 2009 to November 8, 2012. After a three year hiatus, the second season was released in 2012, featuring slightly more detailed animation.
