About Our Parish. For many years Catholics of northeast Hagerstown and Washington County were served by St. Mary's Parish. As the Catholic population of the area continued to experience significant growth, a new Saint Ann Parish was established on June 11, 1966. The cornerstone of the church was laid in 1968 and the church was dedicated in 1970. Hagerstown Community College was founded in 1946 as Maryland's first community college. More than 100 programs of study are available for university transfer, career preparation, or personal development, as well as non-credit continuing education courses, customized training programs and adult education.
