Dedh Ishqiya follows the poetic and dramatic journey of two poachers, Khalujaan (Naseeruddin Shah) and his nephew Babban (Arshad Warsi). They get away with stealing a prized royal necklace. But during a police chase, they get separated and meet months later at a palace in Lucknow, where Khalujaan is competing with Urdu poets to win the heart of a widowed heiress named Begum Para (Madhuri Dixit). A dangerous kidnap plan is afoot. The palace is rife with intrigue.
