A sheitel and hat is a short wig covered with a pillbox, beret or knit hat. (This is the kind of head covering my mother and mother-in-law wear.) The length of the wig ranges from right below the Just condition the hair itself. Leave the conditioner in for 15-60 minutes. This will make the hair soft and nice smelling. After that, rinse out the conditioner, and when you think you're done, rinse it again! It's a common mistake to leave conditioner in the sheitel, especially in the area behind the ears. I've seen gorgeous, layered sheitels, falling near to the middle of a woman's back. I've seen sheitels that are the epitome of practicality, with nary a nod to fashion. Sheitels so expertly blended with real hair that one would honestly never know it was a sheitel.
