Simbang Gabi is a nine-day novena to the expectant Blessed Mother. The novena begins on December 16, and culminates with the "Misa de Gallo" ("gallo", Spanish word for rooster, which crows at break of dawn) on Christmas Eve. In some churches, the "panuluyan" (lodging search) - Las Posadas in Mexico - is reenacted showing the effort of The Diocese of Orange San Jose Filipino Ministry (DOSJFM), a part of Ethnic Ministries of the Diocese of Orange, is hosting its "Paskuhan ng Pamilyang Pilipino 2023" (Filipino Family Christmas Festival 2023) on Saturday, December 9, 2023.
