His experiences of fascism and war — he was imprisoned between Alcide De Gasperi (April 3, 1881 - August 19, 1954) was an Italian statesman and politician.He is considered to be one of the founding fathers of the European Union, along with the Frenchman Robert Schuman and the German, Konrad Adenauer.He spent 16 months in prison under Benito Mussolini (1926-1929).
