Born in Dubuque, Iowa to Beverly (Vincent) and Delbert Kern on April 4, 1952, David grew up in Galena and was a 1970 graduate of GHS. David is survived by his wife of 30 years, Robin (nee Allen), his stepsons Sean Backs (Alexis) and Brian Backs (Jill) and two beloved grandsons, Calvin and Wesley Backs. He is also survived by his parents Beverly Carol Sue Vaassen, 57, of Dubuque passed away Friday, May 20, 2022, at home surrounded by family.
