The Department of Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies has been educating students at the University at Albany since offering its first course in 1971. The program first offered a major in Women's Studies in 1984, became a department in 1990, added the graduate program in 2000, and changed its name to Women's, Gender and Sexuality About. UAlbany's Dean of Students is Clarence L. McNeill. Dean McNeill graduated from the University at Albany with a bachelor's degree in Africana Studies, as well as a master's degree and graduate certificate in educational administration and policy studies. He is working toward his PhD in sociology at UAlbany.
