Walk along the road passing abandoned railway carriages since turned into homes. At the second track on the right, turn off the paved road and walk towards a white house with red painted window frames and a scattering of outhouses. Shacks and railway carriages on beach Dungeness has been classified by the Met office as Britain's only desert. Look no further than Dungeness Spit on the Olympic Peninsula. Consult the local tide table; you'll have best success and more beach to walk on when the low tide is at or around midday. Currently, a pair of bald eagles is nesting and hunting along the spit.
