It started off as Thanckes house in Torpoint. In 1909 it was moved, brick by brick, and rebuilt at its current location and became Whitsand Bay Hotel 1910. An amazing achievement, seen as it's a 32 bedroom hotel! After 110 years of trading, it started struggling for a few years with fewer bookings. Whitsand Bay, situated in south east Cornwall, England, The holiday settlements of Freathy and Tregonhawke are built on terraces on the cliff faces. A National Trust property at Sharrow Point preserves a small cave excavated by hand in 1874 by a hermit called Lugger, who inscribed verses on the ceiling to relieve his boredom.
